I can confirm this bug. In fact when I started UbuntuSoftwareCentre in
Maverick Beta1 i386 I had the same problem.

i had the same problem with Kubuntu-alternate i386 Maverick Meerkat 10.10 Alpha
1.
But i don't know what's the problem, in fact the installation stopped at 83%
during configuration kernel
