I just wanted to add, that i thought i had the same bug. i fought with it
allot, and used many of the tips in the previous comments.
In the end it turned out that my laptop fan was just to dirty! a quick clean
with compressed air and the problem was solved.
worth checking it out. :)

yes. i turn out it had nothing to do with the chess nor ubuntu. simply my fan
was too dirty, after cleaning with compress air the problem was solved.

this is a little wish list.
The clock applet works great. But i dont like the fact that i need to activate
it by pressing he mouse key just to see what i have to do today.
It would be great if by just moving the mouse over the applet, a
conforming this bad at feisty. Adding LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox
fixes it.
