Using Kubuntu 15.10 my sound system works well on my Thinkpad L520.
After upgrading to 16.04 the sound device isn't recognized any longer.

I found the reason of the crashes using strace: Some files iIn
/usr/local/share misses world readability. After changing the
permissiones kcmshell4 filetypes works as aspected. So the remaining
problem is, that kcmshell crashes instead of returning a meaningfull
error message in such a situation.

I followed Till's advice. If I tried to print a testpage and did lpq I
saw that my Laserjet 1300 ist ready and printing, but nothing happened.
In syslog I found the following message:
