i don't know if it will fix it for you, but in a previous attempt to fix
it I had added
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
to my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

I thought I would let you all know that I also have this bug with my pavilion
dv7-3067cl.
I will be happy to try anything suggested and give feedback. I've been using
linux for several years, so I am familiar with installing, compiling, etc., but
I don't know very much about alsa or the inner
