Right click on a folder in Nautilus. Choose Rename. Cannot type
anything in the dialog box.
The same thing often occurs when trying to name a new folder (i.e., the
dialog box appears, but cannot type in it).

Thanks for your quick response! I don't believe I'm using Compiz. My
video card is i810 Intel Integrated Graphics Chipsets. But I don't think
that the problem is visual because it's not just that the text doesn't
appear. It's actually not there.

This problem only seems to occur when the shift key is pressed. So, no
capital letters can be used.
