MY PROBLEM IS SOLVED: (#697)
My freezes were complete. No mouse. No keyboard. No activity. No ping. Only
way out was a hard boot.
The freezes happened within an hour or two, sometimes less.
I loaded a fresh copy of the new 12.04.2 I guess the quantal kernel this has
fixed things.

At this point I find Ubuntu 12.04 LTS unusable. It usually stays up, at this
point, for maybe 2 to 3 hours but will freeze at any time.
I will try a re-install but others have tried that with no success from what I
can gather. I agree with Rabit.

Same problem. System freezes completely. No mouse No keyboard. No SAMBA share.
Can happen while I am browsing or if system is idle (except BOINC) and screen
then won't come back up.
Needs hard reboot every time.

I have seen this same problem in past bug reports solved but none of
the solutions seem to work:
eg: loading manually with envy.
I finally gave up on SUSE because of this and other problems so I have
one-clicked, manually loaded with sh, looked for gparted files etc
