Turns out the minute I unplug

I have an Acer One D150 and using Firefox (latest in 14.04) it appears to
download Chrome deb but will not install via Ubuntu Software Center. After
clicking on install it does nothing else apparently, and returns the install

I see this same problem on my 13.10 install when using several newer
models of Logitech wireless mice. The mouse battery charge status is
displayed in the notification area instead of the laptop battery.
I heartily concur with those who resent having their unison links not
working because of a scheme for improvements none of us asked for or
want.
I don't even mind all that much of the location changes from /media to
something else as long as unison can still find what the something else

I am also having the same problem with the System Menu disappearing in
Ubuntu 13.10 (x86). This was a clean install, not an upgrade.

This is a build out of ricotz/testing thanks to them and linux my new OS
is trashed! Why Part is denied by Ubuntu/raring/main since it is
some experimental reject. I was under the stupid assumption that these

A patch I found as a commit at github.com made /usr/lib/cinnamon-
settings/cinnamon-settings.py display settings options again for me in
Ubuntu, 12.04 32 bit. I'm running cinnamon 2.0.6-20131026040307. This
line added may work with 12.04, 64bit too. See URL
I'm not sure it is related since I prefer to hibernate and reboot seldom
but this happened after a kernel update.

After logging in the screen blanks (text is very shortly visible but not
readable to me) after which the login screen is shown again. X doesn't
seem to crash if I interpreted /var/log/Xorg.0.log correctly.
The solution was to rename .kde and logging in again.
In my case, I followed
gedit /usr/share/doc/dictionaries-common/README.problems
# Debconf database corruption
To make it short :
/usr/share/debconf/fix_db.pl
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
FYI, I also removed dictionnaries-common entry in /var/lib/dpkg/status,
followed by a failing apt-get

In the most recent event, get_pages_from_freelist seems to have timed

Tar 600GB from ext2 on encrypted SATA partition to ext2 on encrypted
USB-storage partition.
This never occurred with
Tested with 3.12.0-031200rc6-generic and it failed the same.
