The problem occurred several times. I could not identify any specific
steps which would lead to it. However, it has not occurred in the last
few weeks, so this bug can be closed or put on hold until other reports
are received.

I get the same phenomenon, but my version of Vuze is 3.1.1.0 and it is
asking to upload to 4.2.0.8

It looks like you manually edited the menu.lst file and put the hardy kernel
there.
Yes, I edited menu.lst. I didn't actually put the hardy-kernel line there, but
I did have to make lots of changes to accomodate my 2-disk dual-boot
configuration.
I agree that there should be a warning
