I also got the same problem...
It still affects Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta2.
I first encountered this with Ubuntu 11.04 OS.
Its has to be the kernel version and I only experience this with 64 bit
version 32 bit seems fine but slow.
10.04 and 10.10 with 64 bit is fine.

Unfortunately that doesn't work for me.
After granting access to /dev/console to the VE (and rebooting it), I get
No such device instead of Operation not permitted when trying to access
the device and init still hogs the cpu.
Maybe it is a problem with the host (Debian 6.0,
I totally agree the proper fix would be that OpenVZ provides a /dev/console. My
patch is rather a workaround.
Concerning jobs specifying console access, they already fallback to
CONSOLE_NONE in job_process_spawn so they are working (maybe not exactly with
the same behaviour though).

I wanted to let you know some of my recent experiences. I also had the HDD LED
blinking slightly every two seconds and a bit stronger every few seconds on my
desktop PC. Previously I had gentoo running with gentoo-kernel 2.6.30-r4 and
did not observe anything like this. Then I installed
I just found out something quite surprising to me: stopping DBUS also results
in a stop of this weak, annoying, heart-beat like blinking!
Naturally, disabling such a central component as DBUS (especially with KDE, as
in my case) is not a desirable solution. And I am also wondering why DBUS does

bugs appear with every window manager i test:
- metacity
- openbox
- kwin
- blackbox
- ...
Only working window manager is compiz so i guess bug is in cairo dock
and not in window managers...
Here what kwin devs think about it:
The claimed assumption that kwin would set size and position
Can't confirm, cairo-dock is buggy with kwin and cairo... (dock
disappear)

I'm now quite sure that this bug is in cairo-dock...
If i replace gdk_window_move_resize() with just gdk_window_resize() (so,
like this, dock don't move)
Here what happen then when an icon is closed:
- Dock resize itself
- Icon is remove
- Dock move to it original position !
So, this is the

You will see bug on close (without gdk_window_move_resize()):
- 157 = Konsole closing, dock resizing
- 184 =
workaround fixed it for me on a dell latitude E4310

Somehow compose cache is disable in libx11. This trigger a slow path in
libx11 _XimParseStringFile function.
It could be easily detected by valgrind tool callgrind running on any X
application with more than 500 000 calls to getc comming from
_XimParseStringFile.
