view the changes between the current and new version.
Removals of text are shown in grey color with red background, this is
difficult to read, a different color choice would help to make easier

I had the same problem once on my Wind U100. It happened when I used
the hotkey (Fn+F4) to lower the brightness. It was already all the way
down, then it started to automatically bounce up one level and
Killing gnome-power-manager also temporarily solves the problem for me.
It happens any time I adjust the brightness with the hardware keys.

I also don't have my username in the upper right corner. There is no
noticeable way to shut down/reboot the machine. Here is a
screenshot...I also had to kill gnome-power-manager due to screen
flickering, that's why there's no battery indicator.

This should not be a question - it is a regression in Karmic from Jaunty
for the Netbook Remix version. There is no clickable way to shut
down, reboot, standby, or hibernate the machine. I upgraded from
Jaunty, for reference.
