I have the same issue on Arch GNOME 3.24. I guess this may be a GNOME

I am using the plugin on a daily basis.
I am not sure whether this is the correct place to mention this, but I
noticed a very slight problem: the plugin uses gnome-open to view the
compiled tex file in pdf, ps, etc.
