GNU Typist doesn't currently support UTF-8.
However, support for UTF-8 has been added and will be available in the
forthcoming 2.9 release.

To follow up... The problem is that gtypist doesn't currently support

I'm afraid that hasn't quite fixed the bug.
When hddtemp isn't running, adding the computertemp applet to the panel
causes something completely unusable to be added to the panel! I'm
seeing 1 black pixel appear on the panel (against the new transparent
background - nice!), or sometimes a vertical

Running sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg in terminal fixed
this issue for me
This worked for me also. Thanks! :o) Although I had to re-enable
restricted drivers afterwards.

@Big_Rog, I'm suffereing from the exact same problem you're describing.
I have the same Failsafe sections in xorg.conf and the login screen
resolution is larger than will fit on the screen.
Would you mind elabourating on how you fixed the issue? What do you mean
exactly when you say you replaced
