I tried Hardy alpha 2 with the same results. It seemed to suspend
alright, but resuming it resulted in a blank screen (but the system
responded to ctrl-alt-delete by restarting and ejecting the cd).
On the plus side, the ubuntu splash screen now works, wohoo!

Gutsy Tribe 5: Backlight does
sorry I do not know how to install xserver-xorg-cor-dbgsym from above linked
DebuggingXorg to do a backtrace. I added the repos to my sources.list from
DebuggingProgramCrash,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrashreplacing gutsy with
hardy. The page has not been updated for hardy yet so I
I'd call this a showstopper bug!
I tagged the bug accordingly. Unfortunately this tagging business in
launchpad does not make any sense as long as there is no tag cloud
anywhere presenting them.

I just upgraded to Hardy and am still having the problem. Could a fresh
install change that?

I had 64 bit 7.10 installed I assume that means it upgraded to 64 bit
Hardy. Could this cause the difference?
