Another problem is (at least for 12.10) that each time kernel is updated
you have to munually install new kernel headers. It's not a problem for
me but for new users it's a nogo. From a reputation perspective it's
critical.

Hi Martin, thx for the tip but this package is not installed by default
on 12.10x64. I checked twice, one time on my desktop and second time
when I made a fresh installation on VB.

after updating my system i couldnt boot anymore, i was dumped back to
initramfs commandline that complained that /dev/disk/by-uuid/mydiskid
- was missing, and in fact an uuid for my root partition was completly
gone.
I fixed it by changing grub entry to /dev/sda3 (in my

BTW, the problem is present in openSuse 10.3 and not present in ZenWalk
5.4/6.0. So, now I use ZenWalk on my laptop.

I confirm the issue. It is exists in 7.10, 8.04, 8.10 . Found next:
when I set processor speed to minimum in BIOS and disable multi-core,
the notebook can work some days without halting. If processor speed is
maximum and multi-core is enabled, it can halt in few minutes after
booting.

well one of my pc doesnt hang on login, but evolution-data-(server i guess)
process is topping 100% of cpu power, when i do evolution --force-shutdown,
everything gets back to normal.
im on 8.04beta. Maybe it has something to do with wireless card ?

after fresh install on one of my pc's the problem occurrs too - but only
on one of them... the one with wireless pc ( i saw ppl mentioning
wireless connection in other reports so i guess it may be important)

can also confirm the bug on 2 pc one running 8.04beta with gf 8800gts
other one is running beta on ati radeon 9600pro.
