DnD started to work again. Afaik there were no firefox updates in
meantime.

I also noticed that the drag and drop function is missing in my bookmark
toolbar.

Well for me configuring /etc/hosts file did the trick.
(I also had the timeout issue on resolving the dns names)
I had to add alot more servers than the posters above:
