my setup is the same as the original post, with the possible variation
that I use a classic session.
I think notifications were working right after install, but stopped
after I did a mega installation of updates and extra software.

Hi, since the update on the 23rd, my sound has broken. I now only have
dummy output listed in the sound settings dialog.
The DKMS process used to install several modules, but as of the update
on 23rd December it only installs 2 as follows:

I was able to downgrade to the previous package:

no problem, I have done this. IO[0].data toggles the mute LED on/off.
when On it is always orange (for muted). when i uncheck the box for
IO[0].data, the led is off. I cannot find a combination of settings to
make it go white (for unmute), but I will try again tonight when I get

Hi, I booted into the instal DVD, and issued sudo modprobe snd-hda-
intel to get the alsa-info for the old situation, because I couldn't
figure out how to get back there on my current installation.
I hope this helps.

daily/+archive/ppa to my software sources, which caused my amsn version
to be upgraded to 0.98.4.
This has not affected the bug.
the issue may be the toolkit. I dont want to upgrade my distribution as

this affects me as well. every time i open monodevelop, the panels
disappear, sometimes straight away, sometimes when i close monodevelop.
monodevelop seems to cast an edge shadow over the panels in a way that
other windows dont, maybe this is related.
also possibly related is the fact that my

get the invest applet to display a chart by editing
/usr/share/pyshared/invest/chart.py

this bug has become worse for me since upgrading to lucid. i had the
problem with previous versions of ubuntu but after resetting the
positions a few times gnome seemed to learn. The problem is not
related to rebooting or restarting x or anything like that. the problem

the changes to notifications as compared to jaunty are a seriously
retrograde step. i have just installed juliens fantastic package to fix
this bug and it really is so much better. the correct behaviour should
be that all passive notifications appear in the corner with existing
notifications

the old kernel + modules didnt help.
dont know what has happen to the sound setup in ubuntu, but it doesnt
wanty to play nicely with the driver and hardwiare. to expand on my
previous post, the mute light is blue for most of the boot-up process
(which is a total horror-show compared to the jaunty
any pertinent info asked for in pursuit of
fixing this bug as it isnt really fixed.

i suspect it may be because of compiz.
in fact, i just switched to metacity and it doesnt happen. however, only
this theme suffers from it, and i couldnt say whether the bug is in
gnome-themes-ubuntu or in compiz.
