Sorry to keep you waiting. Bug is still there in Ubuntu 10.04 with updates up to 2010-08-19. Brightness keys trigger osd and move slider up/down as expected, but have no effect. There seems to be no way to control the display's brightness. -- brightness not adjustable on fujitsu siemens celsius

To catch up with your work: unlike Dan's, my system always reports 'open' when running the loop and doesn't blank at all when I press the lid switch. If I do the same running Hardy, it correctly returns 'closed' (and blanks). I'll attach the requested files for Intrepid and Hardy. -- No blank

Public bug reported: Looks very much like #22989. In my case it worked perfectly in Hardy, but appears to be broken in Intrepid. I'm on a HP nc8000. (I looked for a /var/log/acpid but couldn't find one; maybe acpid logs to another file in more recent releases? Anyway, nothing seems to be logged

Thanks for looking into this. I tried full screen in eog, evince and totem. None of those seem to cause any problems. Actually, the same holds for full screen in f-spot: it seems to work fine in full screen mode. But the slide show is misbehaving. Could it be anything to do with the transition
