I am trying to install 13.04 on an Acer Aspire 5024 laptop. Installation hangs

After today upgrade in intrepid, kde 4.1 desktop with composite effects
enabled was not working (black screen); downgrading libgl1-mesa-glx ,
libgl1-mesa-dri and libglu1-mesa to older versions (~rc3-1ubuntu4) fixed
the problem.

I can confirm this problem is also present in feisty amd64 as of today upgrade.
I have tried one of the workarounds suggested, that is to download
beryl-core-0.2.0 and extract and copy beryl-xgl to /usr/lib, but it doesn't
work: bertyl starts, but all windows of applications
Ok, I realize I didn't explain very well the problem, so I reformulate it: when
I boot my system, knetworkmanager is set by default in offline mode (since I
had problems with previous versions of knetworkmanager to manage my two
different static ip configurations depending on my location, home
I have moved to Feisty Fawn (herd 5 at the moment), and I have no more this
error message. The only strange message I see in adept details is this one at

In fact it doesn't work now for me too. I don't know why at this point,
maybe because of some other updates in dapper to the kernel (I am using
2.6.15-26-amd64-k8) or to xserver-xorg, or to ati drivers for my x700 (I
am using the the proprietary one, version 8.26.18).
