I have a 1 gb sd card reading on a compaq presario v3000 with a built in
sd card reader (R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter). The system
has the most up to date edgy.
My system does not hang or lock up but it does take a very long time to
read the card.

This bug was filed back in 2005 so it was probably with breezy. I doubt
that it is a problem with Dapper or Edgy.

Oh dear. I would be glad to help, but I was in such a pinch that I
downloaded the alt cd and was able to install using it. (I tried dapper
live and alt cd and both would lock up; I could only get ubuntu
installed on this system using Edgy's alt cd). I've got my system set
up now.
