After doing even more research on this issue I found that some people
reported the same problem when having their usb-keyboard/usb-peripherals
attached. So I disconnected all of my USB-devices, and after that it
booted. When I connected them again later, and rebooted, the computer

When booting it freezes right after Starting up..., and if I remove the quiet
splash options I can see that it stops after
[some time] io scheduler cfq registered (default)
I tried using the options, acpi=off, noacpi, noapic, nolapic,
clocksource=jiffies etc but nothing
I should probably add that I am running the amd64 version of Ubuntu
9.04.
