I have edited /etc/default/grub on my EeePC-901X as
"GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text".
Then, I rebuild grub by sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
It seems to be fine and well working on my EeePC 901.
