This has to be something with (k)ubuntu not wine. I have use the same
version on debian 5 and it works fine. I have also tried upgrading to a
newer version of wine from winehq to see if that fixed it but no help. I
have tried purging all wine

yes, these are my steps when do it
install festvox-kdlpc16k which install all needed pkg
install kttsd of course.
then run kttsmgr, add a talker. form synthesizer select the festival
interactive then ok
select audio tab
select ALSA with default device, Phonon has never worked in kubuntu
I'm no longer using that version. I'm now using amd64 and 8.10. Now it will
not disconnect when you right click and disconnect. Sorry no help.
