Happened for me as well, dbus-daemon (a fork of it) started to use 100%
CPU when I tried to start thunderbird, which never came up. It did not
stop when I killed the thunderbird process manually, but it did stop
when I also killed nepumuk-server (which I read was a candidate, too).

I agree with Stefan Zeyen.
Although I did always have trouble (since approximately Jaunty!) with
operating menus with the stylus or the mouse, the problem with failure
in the actual painting canvas is brand new in Maverick.

Importance
I have the same problem for skype and vlc in ubuntu natty with classic
interface.
Removing and adding notification icons applet temporary fixes the problem, but
still it's very annoying.

point (I was fooling around with the Jack demon at the time) and didn't
know what was the correct default.

The problem is not Iphone/Ipod specific. The problem is with a bunch of
different media hardware, no one has yet made the connection with all
this different media. Some people have problems with inserted DVD's,

But I managed to freeze up the whole thing (greyed out under gnome) and

In another thread workaround was suggested - you have to switch keyboard layout
order and move USA layout
I'm using karmic and this bug isn't fixed.
Workaround by André Pirard (switching Russian and USA layouts, USA go first)
works perfectly.

I have no karmic installed, but I could repoduce it with the Alpha 5
karmic-desktop-amd64 live system after installing the nvidia drivers.
I also tried to compile the 0.8.4-1 release of linuxwacom myself using
the --enable-quirk-tablet-rescale configure option, but I think i did
something wrong, b
As Paul already wrote: The Problem still exists in jaunty, not only in
hardy.
Although I repeat myself, it would be great to have this configure
option used by default.

I think I've found it. It likely happens only on new installations
because udev writes out the network config rule, which triggers a reload
of the rules. This needs to kill all old worker processes to get the new
config active. There's a bug how the config-reload is handled while the
workers are bu
