Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I don't have access to the motherboard anymore; fortunately it seems that this is a motherboard failure. The motherboard is being guarantee replaced and I'll get another model but this is most likely a hardware issue, according to tests by retailer. -- Corrupt

I wasn't able to reproduce this crash, in fact the Feisty install crashed in various places, ranging from the mentioned to e.g. not being able to install Grub (2 different kind of error messages there). I ran memtest with success and installed Edgy without problems. -- Feisty Beta installer
