I've tried 0.5.2 with this webcam:

and it works with cheese, so great!

I think the bug is introduced with gstreamer support for libv4l, since
the patch was dropped in a recent upload and when reapplied the bug came
back. I don't now why since gst-launch does work with lastest gstreamer
upload, but cheese doesn't.

I think it's the same bug as the xps m1330 integrated webcam.

With libv4l-0_0.5.1-1 from the PPA cheese still doesn't work. Player
does, as so does ekiga. Anyone knows why my webcam works without the
libv4l? As I'm guessing any app not using that library is working here
(mplayer, ekiga 2) but cheese that uses gstreamer doesn't.

This works:

but increasing the size of the capture window fails, but --verbose
doesn't show anything.

icon on slab is not shown correctly (see screenshot). I don't know if this is a
panel issue, a fonts issue or what, so I'm posting here. With a 26 pixel size
panel, the slab applet looks good.

Ok, I've tried again and I could figure out how to make n-m work. The
issue is only half solved. The gnome-main-menu shows theres a cable
connection correctly, but when I click on that icon, a window pops-up
with wrong information. See screenshot.

I've used xev and it's telling me my right apple key is 116. I've added:
s/keycode 116 =/keycode 116 = AltGr/;
and it didn't work. I've then look and saw the dumpkeys command says 116 is Do.
so I've added:
s/keycode 116 = Do/keycode 116 = AltGr/;
with no luck.

I'm using hardy up to date (x86). When ever I reboot my computer, and
log into gdm, there's a switch to virtual terminal 8 (showing the end of
the text based boot process, Starting ... [OK]) and then gdm comes back.
If I then log in again I get to my gnome desktop.
I've also discovered than when gdm restart it does in VT9, while
normally it will come first on VT7.

The ssh_config settings are overriden by the -X flag, so I don't think
they are relevant

What information do you need? (in response to marking the bug
incomplete)
I can post any other file you may need. My upgrade was from gutsy to
hardy.

I've upgraded a gutsy box to hardy and ssh X11 forwarding no longer
works.

Yesterday I did a dist-upgrade from gutsy, I haven't touched my sudoers file:
sudo grep -v '^#' /etc/sudoers | grep -v '^$'
Defaults!lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn
rootALL=(ALL) ALL
%admin ALL=(ALL) ALL
I found the bug and had to add a manual entry in etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 cube

Changing
Defaults !lecture,tty_tickets,!fqdn
to
Defaults env_reset
and now it works as martin says

Hi
I'm using ubuntu gutsy and I still have this problem. Do I have to do
any workaround? I use the gnome-main-menu applet, but I assume it has
nothing to to.
