I can confirm that your described solution solved the problem.
I'm sure that your suggested "fix" did not work when I submitted the bug
also because I was able to reconstruct the error in the example I
attached (which is not my original file).

here.
The subtotal function is supposed to only sum lines visible making it
possible to use it in combination with autofilter.
I've attached an example (use the autofilter dropdowns) using the two
