I can't reliably reproduce this bug. But it always happened in
combination with SQLDeveloper from Oracle. I can work with it for hours
without this problem coming up. Sometimes it comes up during normal
usage of the app, other times when closing it (but not always).

You're welcome.
I use a normal DSL internet connection, no further firewall/proxy
installed. Proxy setting of the system (in System - Preferences -
Network-Proxy ist set to direct connection.
System updates through the Update-Manager come in regularly.

I tried to upgrade to 8.04beta from 7.10 as is described here:

When the window Distribution Upgrade open, it starts to prepare for
upgrade. After 2 seconds or so the application freezes. I tried this
