that problem went away or worked around when I did a terminal:
sudo update-manager -d without the -c. I had tried that before but then it

I don't think it crashed this time.
I briefly tried to cause a crash, before, it used to do it itself, could of
been related to lack of free space on one of my hard drives.
I stopped it with a Control-C and enter.-|
