This error message can actually stem from a stale lock file, e. g. after a
previous git push died of a signal.
In this case, it will help to delete /var/lock/apache2/DavLock on the server.

Everything still works, only the touchpad is a bit over-sensitive
(pointer jitters even before touching it), so the touchpad is hard to
use.

I just upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04, then dpkg -i worked without error
for the driver 0.6.
Everything's working for me: the mouse settinigs dialog shows a
"Touchpad" tab, two-finger scrolling and disable while typing work.
Awesome job! Thank you so much!

With that patch, vertical scrolling works, but gnome-mouse-properties
does not show a "Touchpad" tab so I can't disable the touchpad while
typing or use multitouch etc.

The description of bug:550625 is not really the same - there, the gnome-
config "Trackpad" tab is showing, but doesn't work. In contrast, on my
system I don't see a "Trackpad" tab at all.
Nevertheless, I patched psmouse.ko as described in

In my case, this occured after an update where I selected "keep existing
version of menu.lst".
I kept my existing menu.lst because the generated one didn't look right - it
contained empty braces () instead of (hd0,3).
Sorry i don't know how to reproduce this now, because
