it from a command line with gst-launch and GST_DEBUG set to 3?
I don't know how to repeat a video file with gst-launch, so I cannot test this.

No, that did not help. Switching to Analog Headphones turns off
speakers AND headphones. I am unable to use the headphones and mute the
speakers, as it was possible prior to Karmic. Headphones are only
working when the connector option is set to Analog Output, but then
the speakers are active too.

dapper kernel fails to do smp on pentium-d viiv
pulseaudio 1:0.9.16~test5-0ubuntu1 solved the problem when using totem.
But I still experience this behavior with audacious2 (pulseaudio output
plugin). When skipping through tracks in audacious, per application
volume level (gnome-volume-control) decreases while 'Output volume'
setting does not
After update to pulseaudio (1:0.9.16~test5-0ubuntu2) headphones are
activated with standard setting 'Analog Output'. They are muted when I
choose 'Analog Headphones'. Still I can't find a way to enable
headphones and disable speakers.

Large (1gb) MPEG-4/AVC files seem to be the root of the problem. For
example the 1080p version of Sita Sings the Blues

another application (gthumb), STRG+C is working there. Anyway, I

I also experience this problem when playing Flash-videos in Firefox,
e.g. youtube. The video loads correctly. When the video starts to play,
there is a scratching noise and after that only silence. The video
playback than sometimes stops or displays only few frames and jumps.

I experience similar sound glitches with Jaunty. Rhythmbox, Totem and
especially flashplugin_nonfree (when playing Flash videos in Firefox)
are affected. The notification sound in pidgin creates that rasping
sound too. This sound bug sometimes makes the application crash.
