This is really a nasty one. I installed a brand new machine, did not
have any problems. Then upgraded the graphics to nvidia 1070, and
started having this same issue. Disabled the secure boot, problem went
away, however, fstab mounted my second drive as home, as I had it
before, now problem came
A simple workaround is to blacklist the zram module, and update your
initramfs:
1. create a text file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-zram.conf:
blacklist zram
2. enter command
update-initramfs -c -k all
After reboot, the zram module will not be loaded anymore.

I've reproduced the same issue with desktop 8.04 both 64 and i386 iso
images downloaded from 2 different sites (MIT and Canadian) MD5 checks
out on all and I've burned them on two different computers and all of
them have this very problem. Needless to say that I've wasted a few CDs
and a whole
