Xorg freezes before the logging screen appears. The cursor doesn't appear, just
a black screen.
I started the computer with vesa to report this bug.

just before login screen appears, the mouse pointer shows then the screen
screens goes off then comes back then goes off again and repeats that for about
6 or 7 times then I got a blank screen with the mouse pointer and nothing

I solved the problem by installing the latest alsa driver 1.0.23 which
is not yet available in the ubuntu repository.

i didn't like my bios. it's like designed for windows 7. and it has a
very limited number of options to configure. it dosn't have an option to
configure the chipset. i had a problem with sound with anouther pc but i
fixed it by changing south chipset configurations. here it's different
nothing to
it's not muted. and i'm able to hear sound with headset the problem is
with speakers.

the problem is not with firefox i montioned it just by mistake. the
problem is with alsa-driver i can't hear even the login sound or any
sound with speakers.

i tried alsamixer i have 3 channels: master , PCM , S/PDIF
alsa says that the audio device is: HDA Intel at 0xd440 irq 22
the S/PDIF was muted i turned it on but nthg changed everything else is not
muted.
here's the result for the test.

Bug on Ubuntu Lucid alpha3
I was logged in a session with a user A when i clicked on the menu of at
the top right and i chose the user B it showed me the login form when i
clicked cancel it didn't want to move away from that screen i had only
the choice to loggin with the B
