Maybe OT: Did I miss understood the option from dpkg '-R' resp. '--
recursive' ? I thought dpkg looks into the current directory to
load/install it (liblircclient0) automatically. Or can this be used only
for different package (names) and not for versions?

successfully I installed it over the existing lirc 0.8.4a-0ubuntu5
(actually as of Ubuntu 9.04) installation using:
$ sudo dpkg --recursive -i

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/lirc/0.8.5-0ubuntu2, but
with (lirc_0.8.5.tar.gz from lirc.org, which should be equal to
lirc_0.8.5.orig.tar.gz). I build the package on ubuntu9.04 amd64.
On dpkg -i

MOZILLA_PLUGIN_PATH to move the plugin path to another location:
Running FF3 even by:

results in installing the plugins into the

same to me: I've an OC Q9550 3.6GHz (FSB 425 x 6 resp. 8.5 = 2.55GHz
resp. 3.613GHz). CPU-Z on Windows shows all correct.
