With OpenVPN, the name resolution is normal on the first attempt to
connect VPN (after reboot). However, by disconnect and connect VPN

Okay, I learned much more. compizconfig-settings-manager was not
installed. The upgrade defaulted to installing compiz, but without the
necessary utilities.
So I see several bugs here:

The video was basically destroyed after the upgrade. I kept getting error
messages about missing drivers

Two months ago, I upgraded my Acer laptop to Lucid 10.04, and things haven't
been right since.
The screen was badly messed up after the upgrade. I had to find a workaround to

just got an Acer laptop,
Travelmate 2300, and installed jaunty Ubuntu on it, latest release, the
standard CD distribution.
