The original beta for Intrepid with the .5 headers recognized the touchpad fine. With the install of the .6 and .7 headers the touchpad, xserver-xorg-input-synaptics wasn't installed. After installation the touchpad worked fine. I'm not sure why the update for xserver didn't find the touchpad
