Same problem here. Hangs on Starting Samba daemons. Ubuntu Karmic
Koala, was alpha5 but this happened after the latest updates from today
(9/17).

I just wanted to also chirp in to agree with the need for this. Nobody
seems to be asking for a kiosk mode so I don't see that as a
reasonable answer. A guest account should be easy and convenient and
having to walk over to the home PC and login every time a friend wants
to use the PC is
Same problem for me as well. Fresh install of ubuntu eee from the
torrent download. Here is what I get when updating:

Same problem as Robert Toscano, if I do a sudo ifup eth0 it will start
working, but will not work with static IP address.
