I've recently installed 13.04 on my lenovo s10-3t which has the cando
touch screen and it's still a bug.
Till, I'm using a netbook with atom processor, so patching and compiling
solfware is an unbelievably arduous task. But, I can install packages
and test things. Can you or someone provide a

Sorry for the delay, but when I try this, it removes off all the xorg
packages. There's a dependency problem with xserver-xorg-input-evdev
1:2.5.99.901+git20101123+xi2.1-new.6b8eff76-0ubuntu1~utouch1,
complaining it can't install a virtual package called xorg-input-
abi-12.0
So, I get no X when
oops, I just noticed that the dependency problem goes away when using
apt-get instead of aptitude, so I've now installed the tested packages
and it boots up successfully.
I'll report back any problems as I test it.

Also, open a terminal and do man synaptics and man synclient and
learn how to adjust the time to simulate middle clicks to make it more
workable. It's trial and error, but eventually you can make it work.

Thanks for the compiler tip, I thought we had to recompile the entire
kernel and was taking 6 hours on this little atom.
Trying your latest synaptics.diff with z=77 fixes horizontal scrolling,
but I can't get a high enough z to get the left / right clicks to work.
When I run synclient -m 100, I
lol, I misunderstood and just applied the 2nd diff when I couldn't it to
work. After applying both patches, with z=77 as you recommend, it
works. But, I need
:~$ synclient JumpyCursorThreshold=50
to be able to select text.
I tried adding this to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/51-synaptics-
tob, I applied your synaptics.diff to kernel 2.6.35-22-generic and it
fixes the corner clicks but it also breaks horizontal scrolling. Does
horizontal edge scrolling work for you?

Yes, I can confirm that the alsa driver fix works on lucid's
2.6.32-24-generic kernel. Now, internal mic and mic input both work and
internal speaker and audio out work normally. And, nothing needed in
modprobe.d. Great fix. Hope it gets backported to lucid for the long

It's still a problem on maverick alpha 3. In fact, not only are the
above problems occuring, but I also could not get aptitude install
pkgs to install from the cd. It kept complaining that it couldn't
find the files. I finally had to cp all the debs to
/var/cache/apt/archives and then aptitude
weird, I tried to use apport-collect 228302 and it wouldn't let me add
to this bug. So, here's my situation.
I'm successfully running hardy on another partition with snappy response
and ability to play dvd's.
I have a fresh install of lucid on another partition. I had to go to

Sorry, but it failed here the 1st time after rebooting. I had to re-
create the file, but only need one line with the word Default in it.
Now, I have rebooted several times and even suspend / resume and it

lucid-generic and the rt2870sta driver in it will connect to wpa2-psk
encrypted networks. So you can install that backport package to get a
fix. I still think it's necessary to manually add the
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
I had to create /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat file and edit it
to include password and all info to get wpa2-psk to connect. Did you

As of lucid kernel 2.6.32-22-generic, this still will not connect to a
wpa2-psk network. I was able to build the source from ralink
successfully, and it connect fine. So, still no results on excrypted
networks.

for brightness and actual_brightness and get them to agree after boot
up?
It certainly would be better to try to fix it at the upstream source.
My limited knowledge of /sys/ directory is that it's mostly created by
kernel
The problem for me is I have no way of figuring this out myself. I'm
not a dev and don't know coding. All I did is stumble upon the fact
that brightness and actual_ brightness were different after boot and the
same after resuming and that setting them the same before suspending
eliminated this

1) install the fglrx driver you desire
2) open terminal and enter:
$ find /sys/ -iname '*bright*'
3) post back the results and we'll help you with the rc.local script.

Still not working here. Now that I know it's gnome-settings-daemon, I
did aptitude reinstall gnome-settings-daemon and still no success.
I opened the menu system preferences keyboard shortcuts and can
see the eject listed under the sound section. I tried disabling and re-
enabling it, but
I notice the changelog shows some upstream changes in how the eject
action is executed. I suppose this is a regression due to that work.
Specifically, on 30 March 2010, this:
- Replace eject spawn with GIO code (Bastien Nocera) (#580779)
and on 17 Jan 2010, this:
- Make eject behave
