Kernel bug during shutdown. Always repeatable. Screenshots attached.
AMD64 machine, ASUS A8V-XE motherboard, updated Hardy beta
uname -r
2.6.24-15-generic
lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Hi,
I had the same error when trying to install latest Hardy kernel to Gutsy system
(using pinning).
All the following files cause this error: dpkg-divert: rename involves
overwriting $foo
/usr/share/man/man5/modules.5.gz
/sbin/depmod
/usr/share/man/man8/depmod.8.gz
/sbin/insmod
Upgraded to Hardy kernel as described in the instructions at:
http://sudan.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=646755page=33
uname -r:
2.6.24-11-generic
On the 32 bit machine, everything seems OK so far. Continuous playing of
flac files for 14 hours did not induce an oops. With Gutsy kernel, the
Kernel oops (see attached dmesg output) on another machine (AMD64).
Again triggered by playing flac files from my home file server.
