Trying to install xubuntu-13.10-beta2-desktop-amd64.iso to usb flash
drive fails consistently in Xubuntu 12.10 64bit. When finishing
installation the disk creator suddenly crashes.

Yes, this happens consistently. Where is nothing new written to
/var/log/syslog, but top shows very high cpu usage by Xorg process,
around 80% if I simply click on various available layouts.
I think this is related to xfce4-xkb-plugin running in panel.

Keyboard settings is unresponsive to even casual clicks on keyboard

When I reboot from Xubuntu 12.10 to Windows 7 I loose headphone sound in
Windows. I checked the volume levels and even reinstalled Realtek audio
drivers in Windows, but nothing has helped so far. Only workaround is to
shutdown notebook from Xubuntu 12.10 rather than rebooting
`echo options snd-hda-intel model=asus | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf` doesn't help
