Your're right. The normal user would never notice it.
But if the user has a choice, it should not broke the boot process.

/etc/default/rcS

When editing a mail message I use paragraph spaces (2x Return) to separate
paragraphs.
When receiving this message these paragraph spaces are gone, i.e. all lines are
separated by one Return only.
