I am just here to report that I have the same problem too. It occured
sometime between last tuesday and today, and several of the .jpg and
.png files located in my home/me/pictures have dissapeared, seemingly at
random. (All were downloaded from the internet. The date at which they

I have the same problem when copying large files over LAN through SAMBA,
FTP, NFS, WIFI,
I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed on my netbook.
When the system freeze, i have to reboot the netbook in the hard way.

resume from suspend to ram fails vostro 1000
I also have a Dell Vostro 1000 and ran into the same issue on resume
after install of 9.10 Final. I did not have this issue on Jaunty.
Things I have tried:
1) nomodeset - I initially thought this might be related to kernel mode setting
but this made no difference
2) HPET=disable - I was hopeful
