Thanks. Installing the package 'plasma-desktop' got my karmic install half-way working. The crash reports were then pointing to the ruby interpreter. Rather than hunting down the particular plasmoid/ruby script that was causing the crash I reset my desktop configuration by removing

I tried the Karmic Wine1.2 packages just to be thorough and had the same issue. Thanks for the quote James. I had already tried /LUA:OFF which didn't help. And i also had major audio issues using kernel 2.6.28-15 which meant this was not even a good temporary solution. I've just manually

Excellent. Thanks for the information. Cant believe i didn't pick that myself... 0x2F has always been an ascii slash! My profile works perfectly now, thanks. Perhaps the pathnames could be escaped with backslashes, like the rest of linux, bash etc... eg: /opt/games/eve/wine/drive_c/Program\

I'll second this one. I have little idea about the OpenCV side of things, however the long term solution might be to update OpenCV v1.1pre to use libdc1394-22-dev also? Probably a good time before OpenCV v1.1 is released? How do we suggest this to the upstream devs through Launchpad? --
