I forgot to mention that if I don't stop kdm (/etc/init.d/kdm stop) the
process tries and tries to restart X all the time in some kind of
infinite loop

It happens also to me. I have the Kwin Desktop Effects also enabled in Kubuntu
Jaunty with KDE 4.3 RC2.
Also in my case this bug is removed when I disable the Desktop Effects.

I have the same problem. This is a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 on a
Optiplex Gx760.

solution posted there worked for me. Just changed keyboard layout to
evdev-managed.

Same for me, Intrepid uses the new uvesafb for the same function so vesafb
can be blacklisted again. I disabled my vesafb and let uvesafb do the job
and everything went fine.

Same problem with my kubuntu gutsy system with compiz-fusion, you can
reproduce it launching any graphic application from yakuake.
The problem persist with or without auto-hiding function of yakuake.
Problem doesnt appear if i launch from konsole.
It seems a yakuake problem ...
