The reason why everyone is seeing this now is IMHO that before kernel oops where not reported by apport I disagree. Apport reporting oopses might be new, but there definitely no oopses in Jaunty, as a simple dmesg on both versions shows. The oops happens 100% on suspend/resume cycles here.

One data point: Could it be that the switch from grub to grub-pc changed things? Previously when connecting a monitor via DVI before booting, I would see the grub screen on the external monitor. With grub-pc it seems, that while it will boot up after the timeout, the menu is never shown, not on
