"WinFast DTV Dongle Gold BDA Device" is what Vista's "safely remove
hardware" menu calls the digital TV tuner
the webcam is inside the laptop. Pressing the special webcam button
(which turns it on/off under Vista) didn't make a change.

- what if you don't know you're running a liveCD (the sysadmin might have put
it in, you're a noob), or you just forgot, then a restart can throw away some
important data (docs on the desktop for example)

OK, maybe it's not ambiguous, but it sure is easy to misinterpret.
