Hey thanks, that's a step in the right direction! It got the sound indicator to
my panel but when I click it all it shows is 'Label Empty' and a disabled voume
control.

Hey, I actually already tried that last one and at least it got me some
sound. The boot and log on sound work and lspci | grep Audio gives me my
sound card. Also I found out that Youtube movies had sound, but I can't
change the volume nor mute my computer.. So I'm back where I started.

It is a fresh instal but I always keep my system up to date, but I'll
try updating it next time I boot into Ubuntu.

Occured running up-to-date daily build of a couple of days ago. I logged
in and started the update manager. Also I switched around the Virtualbox
window so there was some major rezising of the desktop, maybe that had
to do with it.

Got the same after a dist-upgrade from the update manager yesterday
(27-08-2011) and rebooting, then I logged in and this popped up. I'm not
sure wether I opened an application but I don't think it has anything to
do with this crash.
