Tried upgrade via Terminal and failed again. Too many 'association' failures.
I GIVE UP. I'll stay with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Upgrading to 18.04 via CD is not an option I like, since I do not want
to reinstall all the 3rd-party apps I have and go through Ubuntu
settings again.

Tried running Ubuntu 18.04 Upgrade from pop-up again today.
16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS Upgrade
Got 2 error msgs during run:
1) Could not install 'systemd-shim'
2) Could not install
'/var/cache/apt/archives/systemd-sysv_237-3ubuntu10.3_adm64.deb' package

System would not boot
Today a pop-up dialog to Upgrade to 18.04 opened.
Tried it and it seemed to run OK, BUT one package could not be installed
(couldn't find?!)
But this method of upgrading does not offer to roll-back if there were
errors.
Result, on reboot my laptop crashed.
Recovered image backup, back to

1 - I'm using Genome Flashback desktop
2 - Found out that my menu has a FOLDER with the same icon as
[Applications] called [Other].
This [Other] folder has all my old menu options, AND whenever I try to
[Add] an Item inside a folder (example [Games],) it is added to [Other].

After copying all the Launcher lines for all the ones in [Other] that I
needed to keep into a Text doc.
I deleted the folder [Other].
Still CANNOT use [New Item].
REMINDER - This seems to be a problem with ALL desktops (GNOME Flashback, GNOME

The function of Safely Remove is to remove POWER from USB connected

Unplugging any device while powered up is UNSAFE! This bug is not about
unmounting a USB drive/stick.

On previous versions when I pluged in my USB Stick the desktop icon
would appear. Right-click (context menu) had a Safely Remove option in
addtion to Eject. Safly Remove option would power-down my USB

If you install SysInfo (gets it from Ubuntu Repository) you have the
same problem with v0.7-3, I uninstalled it.
Turns out the Mint HardInfo data + benchtest utility gets all the info
anyway. It's also much faster than Ubuntu's test utility.

According to About Ubuntu I am running v11.04 but I do not remember
running a distribution update from v10.10
This is problematic because Sysinfo 7.0 still crashes when System is
selected on sidebar.

After 6 boots over several days with NO problem, the 7th boot (just now)
the UDEVD-WORK/dev/null is back.
I do confirm it looks like a Linux kernel problem.
My laptop's boot sequence is:
1) POST
2) Linux kernel load (*VGA Mode*)
3) Boot messages, GNOME load (?) (*SVGA Mode*)
4)
IF the problem is caused by Linux trying to mount a software-RAID drive
(as the solution points to) the question is still WHY?
I am operating from wetware memory here, so this MAY be incorrect.
I started having this problem AFTER installing Ubuntu from the Live CD

I think I found the cause.
This version of PAN uses xterm as the default editor. Not only that, the
default HTML is
mosilla.
In Ubuntu had to change the HTML handler to firefox, and the editor to
gedit.
I can now send a new post in PAN without PAN closing, just the editor
closes. Have not
