Not sure what had caused this but I was logged on with my primary
account and had enabled the guest session for another user. I closed
the lid with the guest session logged in. It must have gone into
hibernation/standby when this happened. Could not resume after this.

it took me a while to find this minimal install, via the ubuntu wiki. i
wonder if it's really necessary for general users to download the
minimal cd, but it would indeed be nice if it was mentioned somewhere on
the download page.

i can confirm this. it only happens if you configured firefox in such a
way that it always asks you where to save a file instead of saving it

the same problem occurred when i tried to run the kde program mixxx
the programs runs fine and doesn't crash, but sometimes hangs for a few seconds
and it renders the same diagonal black lines across the screen.

The lines appear also in the final release.
I run other KDE programs like amarok, they don't give me the lines. I noticed
another thing: this only happens for me if i enable the POV-Ray highlighting
mode, when i open the same files without highlight or with other highlighting
than POV-Ray all

it does always occur, sadly enough
when i try to boot nicotine, it loads a blank window with the titel
'nicotine + 1.2.6' which 'quits unexpectedly', the close button doesn't
work, after a few seconds a window pops up in which i can chose to wait
or force quit nicotine :]
i hope that's enough
by the way, nicotine has been working under feisty, i'll try to boot it
in an older kernel right now, see if that helps a bit :]
