[Bug 159031] Re: computer freezes when sshfs blocks waiting for connection

2010-05-13 Thread userfriendly
I'm usually connected to one of my web servers via sshfs+fuse and I've been having this exact issue with Nautilus ever since I started using Ubuntu. Then 6.06, now 10.04. My internet provider in their infinite wisdom insists on disconnecting their customers once every 24 hours. Of course the

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio 1) I'm using Ubuntu Studio 9.10 AMD64 2) Pulseaudio is version 0.9.19 3) I expected it to play nicely with my RME HDSP Multiface. 4) It does not play nicely with my RME HDSP Multiface. It doesn't load the module for it on start-up, I have

Good point. I just did a complete re-install of Ubuntu Studio 9.10 and ran apt-get update/upgrade. I'm now going to blacklist the audio output of my ATI graphics adapter in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf (so that the RME HDSP is the only audio device) and reboot. -- Pulseaudio and RME HDSP: pops

Rebooted, and back where I started: Pulseaudio doesn't see the audio card. Ran apt-get install alsa-firmware-loaders to install the firmware loader, copied the HDSP firmware into /lib/firmware/hdsploader and ran hdsploader. When I run aplay -l the card is now listed as card 0, but Pulseaudio

Okay, I started Pulseaudio with the verbose parameter as described on that page and tried producing a system sound. Here's the log. ** Attachment added: pulseverbose.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35728893/pulseverbose.log -- Pulseaudio and RME HDSP: pops and cracks, or module not being

You *may* be able to work around this by using module-detect instead of module-udev-detect in /etc/pulse/default.pa. Isn't this already executed in the else branch? .ifexists module-udev-detect.so load-module module-udev-detect .else load-module module-detect .endif Or do you mean I should

Alright, I commented 4 of those lines out, everything except load- module module-detect. Now I see the HDSP in the PA preferences as Input and Output device. To make it produce any sound at all, I have to manually open HDSPMixer. And now I'm back to audio with lots of cracks and pops. Play around

Okay, I did that. Now the volume control icon in the system tray is gone - as are the cracks and pops in the audio when playing back a flash video I just tested. What just happened? :D Disable glitch-free to get a glitch-free audio? Seems... counter-intuitive. Now I have trouble with Ardour not
