proycon: thanks great advice, works great.
I fixed skype for now with:
sudo mv /usr/bin/skype /usr/bin/skype-bin; echo -e '#!/bin/sh\n\nexport
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so\n\nskype-bin' | sudo tee -a
/usr/bin/skype; sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/skype

[intrepid] 2.6.27-7-generic almost fails to boot if ACPI module ac is not
loaded

Same problem occurs on HP Pavillion, AMD X2, with nvidia.
Holding ctrl gets the laptop to boot, and acpi=off will also work
(however then halt fails).
I attached my system log files.
** Attachment added: System log files on failed boot

I've been trying to get more information on the error, however Firefox
just keeps exiting with segmentation fault when trying to eval an xpath
(with dom inspector or xpather)
Weird thing is I am running similiar systems on laptop and home and
these seem to work ok. I tried coping my profile from
OK a little more testing and I found an error shows up in the JSConsole
just prior to the segmentation fault.
Element id:cmd:toggleCrossFrame not found
I had to record a screencast in order to figure out the error, because
to pops up right before the window closes
screencast attached

I created a new profile and only installed dom inspector and I am still
having the same problem.

and extracted into a temp folder and run that version.
